A recipe for Science
A pinch of wonder, a splash of STEM, mixed with a liberal dose of fun and engagement, and you have science here at The Cotswold School!
The term ends on a bang, literally, with a highly charged, explosive rocket show by Wonderstruck Science. Our Year 9 students watched in awe as the science of forces was demonstrated to them before their eyes – it was a great introduction to their energy and forces GCSE topic, starting in the New Year. Thanks to Mrs Lewis who, with Ogden Trust funding, enabled the school to invite over 155 Year 5 and 6 pupils from 4 local primary schools. Highlights have to be a CO2 rocket powered car, expertly piloted by a Stow Primary pupil, and a human jet pack ignited by our very own Mr Ockleston. Mr Morgan also swung into action, smashing a sledgehammer on to a concrete block which was on top of the presenter lying on a bed of nails!
The Ogden Trust is a charitable trust that aims to enhance physics teaching and learning by enabling innovative teaching to take place. Mrs Lewis’ successful application earlier this year is providing a 5 year funded partnership, which will see CPD and resource boxes supplied to all our partnership schools annually, as well as plenty of other exciting science opportunities, including; STEM competitions, workshops and events throughout the year. More to follow in 2023.
Team Science, a force to be reckoned with!
