Year 13 Biology Students DNA Sequencing Workshop
Twenty Year 13 students were invited to Oxford Natural History Museum recently to take part in a DNA sequencing workshop with Sarah Lloyd.
They took part in a practical to see if they carried a gene that codes for a protein that determines whether you can taste a particular chemical found in foods like sprouts and cabbage. Some students could taste it and others couldn’t, but they enjoyed a 4-hour workshop that involved them sequencing their own DNA to prove whether or not they had this gene.
A lot of fun was had by all on the trip and we are excited to go again next year.
