Approaches to Learning and Assessment

At Key Stage 3 students are assessed three times a year. This is practically based with students working on a piece of work that develops their understanding of the core skills developed through the scheme of work. At this level the focus is on developing confidence in the following criteria –
• Group work
• Character development
• Exploration of scripts
• Drama techniques
• Performance skills – physicality and voice development
• Practitioner and different styles of theatre
At Key Stage 4 students are assessed once a term on GCSE components – scripted, devised and written exam.
At Key Stage 5 students are assessed on AS/A level components – scripted, devised and written exam.
