Arkwright Engineering Scholarship award
Exceptional product design secures a prestigious engineering scholarship
An aspiring engineer interested in the robotics and aerospace industries, August applied for the scholarship – which amounts to an award of £1000 – when he was a student in Year 11.
In addition to taking an exam paper, his application included a proposal for cycling safety gear; and design of a mechanism to regulate the temperature in a greenhouse by opening part of its roof remotely.
Now in the Sixth Form, August is studying maths and science subjects.
Miss Reeves, Head of Chemistry, congratulated August and said,
“Gaining the Arkwright Scholarship is a huge achievement. We’re really proud of August for taking on the challenge and look forward to supporting his continuing success.”
The Arkwright Engineering Scholarship is awarded by the Smallpiece Trust. If you are a student in Year 11 and are interested in applying for the next round of awards, contact Miss Lowson, part of the team promoting STEM subjects across the school.
