Celebrating progress, effort and achievement – Awards Evening 2024
One of the highlights of the new academic year is the recognition of progress, effort and achievement that we celebrate at The Cotswold School Awards Evening, welcoming students to receive their awards alongside their families. We were delighted to be joined by our guest speaker, National Hunt jockey and former Cotswold School student Sam Twiston-Davies. Sam also presented each winner with a book of their choice.
Will Morgan, Headteacher, said,
“As always, Awards Evening is one of the highlights of the year. The evening is a very special occasion, celebrating just some of the incredible progress, achievements and values of our students throughout the previous academic year. Thank you to our key-note speaker, Sam Twiston-Davies, a National Hunt jockey and former student at The Cotswold School. Sam spoke fondly of his time at The Cotswold School, sharing memories of his teachers and making lifelong friends. Inspiring our students, he concluded his speech by saying how important it is to work hard, stay dedicated, but also have fun along the way – ’live your best life, enjoy what you do, and never stop chasing your dreams’.
Finally, many thanks to all of our students and their families who attended the evening; to our talented musicians Tilly, Rohan and Stef for entertaining us with their captivating performances; to our Head Students Flora and Oli; and to our staff and governors for all of their dedication and support – what a fantastic start to the academic year.”
Over 200 prizes were presented on the evening, in 10 award categories, including Subject Awards presented to students who demonstrate an excellent approach in a particular subject, in each year group. Headteacher’s prizes were awarded to students throughout the school for their commitment to school life, to their community, or other causes, or in recognition of their approach to certain challenges that they face.
Awards for Excellence at GCSE were given to Florence, Will, Bobby, Rafi, Lillian, Josh, Joey and Declan, with The Ann Holland Prize for outstanding achievement at GCSE awarded to Elliot, all of whom are continuing their studies in The Cotswold School Sixth Form.
The Gaynor Didcote Prize for outstanding achievement at A Level was awarded to Oscar, who gained 4 A* grades, in Maths, Further Maths, Chemistry and History, and to Reuben who achieved four A* grades in Maths, Further Maths, Computer Science and Music.

The awards were given in September for effort and progress achieved in the 2023-24 academic year and in the summer examinations.
