Computer Science/ICT

By the end of Year 9, we aim for students to have the skills, knowledge and confidence to study Computer Science or ICT at GCSE.

What’s the backbone of the ICT curriculum at Key Stage 3? We look at the constituents of modern computer systems, binary numbers and the art of programming, building and consolidating ICT skills.

Students develop the skills they need to access ICT across the rest of the curriculum. We encourage them to learn more about the functions of the key components of a computer system as well as the fundamentals of bit patterns and binary numbers. They will practise the concepts of abstraction and computation thinking and we’ll also take a look at the vast variety of technologies and coding opportunities out there, including gaming, robotic control and webpage design.
