Cosimo wins place at National Youth Theatre
Cosimo in Year 9 has been awarded a place on a prestigious theatre course with the National Youth Theatre.
He was inspired to audition for the course by Emily, his drama teacher at Chipping Norton Theatre. Another inspiration was the actor, David Suchet, whom he watched on TV as Hercule Poirot and later saw live on stage in the West End.
Cosimo said, “The auditions are nothing to be afraid and, in the end, were more fun than I even imagined, as they included a workshop in the morning.”
How does he feel about winning the place?
“It was a bit surreal and I still haven’t quite realised how great it is. The course is in July over Zoom for seven days and I don’t know exactly what it entails yet!”
Mrs Monk, Head of Drama, said, “Getting accepted into the NYT is incredibly competitive and many famous actors begin their training this way. The Drama Department would like to offer enormous congratulations to Cosimo!”
