Easter Marathon Challenge raises over £1,400!

Staff at The Cotswold School went the extra mile for their wellbeing and friends and school families donated money to show their support.

When we announced, back in lockdown, that we wanted to support staff wellbeing by challenging ourselves to complete a marathon over Easter, we didn’t know how popular the initiative would be.

Members of staff walked or ran over Easter, many clocking up over 26.2 miles. Half of the money raised will go to local charity Headspace, which provides counselling for young people; half goes toward the refurbishment of our school ‘sensory room’, supporting the positive mental health of our students.

Mrs Bridgwater, who is recovering from a broken ankle, walked two miles a day and was delighted to meet the goal, while Mrs Honour did one marathon (running) and a further three (walking).

Mr Lord got back into training and ran several 5k’s, completing the final part on a Devon beach at sunrise (and raised an additional £350 for Headspace). Mrs Heath-Smith ran a whole marathon one morning, starting off in snow!

Miss Henley walked, accompanied by her brother’s dog, Luna; and Mr and Mrs Peake collected litter to help protect the countryside and wildlife on their five-mile walks.

These are just a few of the many stories from staff who enjoyed the challenge, getting fresh air and exercise around the Cotswolds. Thank you to all who donated and supported us!
