A fascinating and valuable day of learning
Last week, Dr Guy Sutton guided our Year 13s around the latest neuroscience research, supporting students to explore the A level topics to degree level content in an interesting and engaging way. During the day, Dr Sutton discussed the most up-to-date research – including research published within the last week – looking at topics such as the criminal brain, schizophrenia and the dying brain.
Alongside this, students had the opportunity to take part in a sheep brain dissection. Dr Sutton explained the various stages during the dissection and passed around different parts – including the hippocampus and cerebellum – for students to hold. He then looked to the future to discuss with students where brain research might take us, including current and future research into brain organoids and technological advances in neuroscience expected over the next decades.
