Geography

Geography is a subject that goes beyond the realms of map skills and capital cities! It will make you think about the world around you, your place within it and the impact our actions have upon it.

A broad range of topics are covered, utilising a wide range of transferable skills – from problem solving and team work to data handling and map interpretation. These will all help you achieve academic success and will be invaluable in your life outside the classroom. Geography is a sought-after discipline in the workplace; this is due to the skills that it fosters alongside the academic rigour.

The GCSE Geography course requires that students take part in two days of fieldwork, where we experience the practical application of the theory covered within the classroom and apply data collection skills in the field – we visit Chesil Beach, for example.

There are three exams all taken at the end of year 11 (one based around physical Geography, one based on human Geography and the third focusing on fieldwork skills and issues evaluation).
