Promoting well-being and ensuring safe and secure environments in the health, social care and child care sectors is essential not only for individuals who require care and support but also for those who are involved in their lives, such as their visitors, families, friends, advocates, professionals and managers. Creating settings that provide protection from danger, risk of injury and promote a sense of safety, free from danger, threat or fear is central to delivering high-quality, safe, and effective care and support.
In this unit learners will discover the different ty pes of hazards in HSC settings as well as their potential impact on others. They will also find out about the key legislation and organisational policies and procedures that promote health, safety and security as well as the roles and responsibilities of employers, employees and individuals who require care and support to comply with these.
