Well done Jasmine!

With the help of her mouth-watering menu, Jasmine (Year 10) showed the judges her fantastic cookery skills at the recent Rotary Young Chef Cluster Final 2024 at Cardiff and Vale College. Cooking up a feast of; skillet/pan seared duck breast with a soy honey sauce, garlic baked tomatoes, hassle-back potatoes and a refreshing cucumber salad; followed by sweet strawberry and lemon miniature queen of puddings.

Jasmine has always had a passion for cooking and entered the Rotary Young Chef competition to branch out and expand her skills from a hobby to competition level. She held her own against some stiff competition with judges commenting on how professional all of the contestants were.

Mr Smith, Second in Design & Technology Department, commented, “I was really proud of how calm Jasmine was throughout the process – it takes a lot to put yourself out there. Sadly, it wasn’t to be this time around but judges said it all came down to a matter of marks. To represent the school in a national semi-final is something Jasmine should be very proud of. Well done.”
