Hard work and patience behind successful new partnership
Getting to know a new pony and becoming successful together has taken lots of determination and patience, as Jocelyn explains:
“When I competed in the Cotswold Cup, I had only had my new pony, Castleturk Colerado, for four months. We started our partnership and the season rather poorly and got eliminated twice in our first event. In fact, the third time I ever rode him he reared up and went over backwards.
“But we have worked really hard and at the Cup recently we did our best ever dressage test, scoring 36.5 (the lower the better) and we went clear show jumping (no poles down or time penalties). Then we went round cross country with no jump penalties (jumped everything first time) and had only 0.7 time penalties for going too fast!
“With these results we ended up placing fifth in a section of 40 people, which also qualified us for the championships!”
