Jonas awarded Arkwright Engineering Scholarship

Congratulations to Year 12 student Jonas Bradbury, who has been awarded an Arkwright Engineering Scholarship.

The Arkwright Engineering Scholarships programme is the most esteemed scholarship scheme of its type in the UK. The highly competitive Arkwright selection process involved creation of a project, an online application and virtual interview, designed to assess students’ engineering knowledge as well as key life skills like leadership and creative thinking.

Mr Kelly, STEM co-ordinator and Head of Design and Technology at The Cotswold School, said he was immensely proud of Jonas’ achievements

“The Arkwright Engineering Scholarship is a very prestigious award and winning it is testament to Jonas’ passion for engineering, hard work and dedication. Well done Jonas, I look forward to seeing where your success takes you in the future.”

The project Jonas submitted was a broad study into projectile motion in which he built a ballista (roman catapult) to test his theories.

Jonas is currently studying for A Levels in Computer Science, Physics, Maths, Further Maths and he hopes to study Maths or Engineering Science at university. The scholarship will give Jonas unique opportunities, contacts and mentoring and be a fantastic addition to his future plans.

The programme, part of educational charity The Smallpeice Trust, aims to encourage young people to pursue their dreams and change the world through engineering.

Congratulations to Jonas on this wonderful achievement.
