Generous donation will fund wider participation and valuable training
Our DofE co-ordinator, Mr Ockleston, is grateful to everyone involved in fundraising by the Northleach Mothers’ Union, whose money is helping students gain valuable experience.
“I was delighted to invite two members of the Mothers’ Union into school. We talked about The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award and the support that their charity offers for local schools, as well as the schools they support in India.
“We were so grateful to receive a first donation of £500. This is being used to fund some students’ expeditions, and also the consumables, such as food, for our first in-house led expedition in over five years. Following their hugely successful Christmas fundraiser, which I attended (and got Christmas presents for all my family) the charity generously awarded us a further contribution of £1,000.
“This means we can support more disadvantaged students through their expeditions, get more kit to reduce the cost further for others, and increase our staff training so we are better at supporting young people on their DofE.”
