Nurse inspires drawing for the Ashmolean
The Artists in Residence exhibition is now live!
Well done to Poppy, whose evocative drawing was shortlisted in the 11-17 age-group. View the exhibition here.
The Ashmolean Museum and the Oxford Times set up a competition to capture what people were thinking, feeling and making, during lockdown in Spring 2020. Poppy’s work was printed in the Oxford Times during the summer.
Now in Sixth Form, Poppy said, “It was hard to finish Year 11 so abruptly and I had a lot of spare time. I put it towards drawing this nurse. I felt I could use art to symbolise our appreciation for the NHS and key workers, and to raise awareness and support. I think it shows on her face how hard these times are, which is something we should always recognise, pandemic or not.”
