Huge smiles on students’ faces on Results Day!

Year 13 students at the Cotswold School have achieved outstanding results in 2022.

Three quarters of the 410 grades they collectively achieved were at A*, A or B. Just over half of all grades were either A* or A, and 94% were at A*to C. In all measures, the grades awarded following this year’s public examinations are higher than halfway between the school’s exam results in 2019 and the teacher-assessed grades of 2021.

Over 75% of all those who applied to higher education from The Cotswold School have achieved grades to secure their first choices, with five students accepting offers at Cambridge and Oxford universities.

Head of Sixth Form, Phil White, said,

“I couldn’t be more delighted for our Year 13 students and for the results they have achieved today. They have shown incredible tenacity and commitment to rise to the challenges of the past two years, following their cancelled GCSE exams in 2020.

“Well done to every one of them, to their supportive families and to all the teachers and staff at The Cotswold School, who have worked with such dedication, care and skill to enable them to achieve these exceptional results.

“Our students’ enthusiasm and hard work has been justly rewarded and they can now look forward to very bright futures.”

Headteacher, Will Morgan, echoed the praise, saying,

“I am delighted with our results this year with 50% at A*/A and over three quarters at A*- B and importantly, the wonderful destinations that our students have achieved as a result.

“These figures build on our achievements in 2019 (the last year our students sat external examinations) and are in line with our centre-assessed grades of 2020 and 2021, which demonstrates the integrity of our centre-assessed grades during the pandemic period.

“I wish all our Year 13 students a great day of celebration and all the very best for the exciting futures they have in store.”

Their destinations are wide-ranging, including places to study Global Development at the University of York, Medicine at the University of Southampton, Art at the University of Edinburgh, Maths and Computer Studies at Imperial College London, Engineering on a Dyson degree apprenticeship and a BA in Production Arts at the Bristol Old Vic theatre.
