Philosophy, Beliefs & Ethics

Students explore a range of faith views and non-faith views

A lively subject, where we consider different responses to themes that we find around us. This is an opportunity for our students to develop their own critical thinking and analysis skills and share them thoughtfully in debate and in writing.

Here are some examples of the key concepts and questions that we explore:

Year 7
‘Is there a God?
What and why do we believe?’
‘Should Christians be greener than others?’
‘Are the teachings of Buddha relevant today?’

Year 8
‘Being a Muslim in Britain today’
‘Was Jesus really that radical?’
‘Death; is it the end?’

Year 9
‘Whose body is it anyway?’
‘Good, bad, right or wrong, how do I decide?’
‘Suffering, poverty and happiness’.
