Alice Powell, W-Series driver, joins the competition judges
The Cotswold School’s two robotics teams: ‘Blood and Custard’ (Year 12) and ‘Uprising’ (Year 10) are in the latest round of Vex Robotics competitions, which will be hosted for the first time at The Cotswold School on Saturday 12th March. At stake is a place in the national finals – and potentially the international finals, held in Dallas.
The competition brings teams of students with a passion for robotics, coding, design and engineering together in a series of thrilling challenges. This is the first time The Cotswold School has taken part – the only school in the local area to do so – and we are holding our own against experienced teams. Previous rounds have been held at Stowe School in Buckinghamshire and Queen Elizabeth School in London.

Mr Kelly, Head of Design and Technology, said,
“I’m delighted that W-Series driver and former Cotswold School student Alice Powell has agreed to take on the role of Head Judge, when we host the next round of the Vex Robotics challenge. A big thank you to our judging team – including engineers from cutting-edge firms Dyson and Zero EV – and to the many staff and students who will be here to ensure the smooth running of the event.”
Volunteers include Frankie in Year 13, who will oversee lighting and sound for the competition arena; and students from Year 12, who will keep score. Year 7 children will help re-set the fields between matches.
Mr Kelly added, “This is an exciting opportunity for our hard-working teams and the young people volunteering to help run the day, who will be inspired by the ingenuity and creative thinking of all the students taking part. The competition rounds are truly exciting – anything can happen!”
Many thanks to Wreal Sports, who have sponsored the teams’ t-shirts.
