Radio Broadcasting Club launching soon
The Cotswold School is delighted to be working with Cotswolds Radio to set up an in-school Radio Broadcasting Club. Thanks to a grant awarded to Cotswold Radio from the MidCounties Co-operative Community Support Fund, the collaborative project will broadcast shows, presented by students, directly from a dedicated satellite studio at The Cotswold School.
Launching in the spring, students will have the opportunity to present shows every week in term time, 2.00 – 2.30 pm.
Loxie Chiles, Head Girl at The Cotswold School, is heading up the project, “I joined Cotswold Radio back in early 2021. Originally, it was a way for me to grow my passion for music and learn new skills – I loved it so much and found it really helped me to become more confident and articulate. When you are in an environment where you must talk and create conversation, whilst running the technical side of things and being live, it’s challenging. I love the challenge – I have to think on my feet and make mistakes that help me learn to become a better broadcaster. I wanted to set up a station at school because I feel it’s important to share the valuable skills I have gained from doing my show with students who otherwise wouldn’t have had access to this. I’m really excited for the shows and studio to officially be up and running in the spring!”
Cotswold Radio, a community volunteer led radio station, is committed to training others, particularly young people, to prepare, produce and present radio broadcasts – as well as offering volunteer opportunities to Duke of Edinburgh’s Award participants.
