Religious Studies
Religious Studies challenges learners to reflect on and develop their own values, beliefs and attitudes in the light of what they have learnt. It contributes to their preparation for adult life in a pluralistic society and global community.
We look at teachings, practices and sources of authority, by reading key texts of the religions we study (Christianity and Islam).
You will develop your ability to construct well-argued, well-informed, balanced and structured written arguments, demonstrating your depth and breadth of understanding of the subject whilst also engaging with questions of belief, value, meaning, purpose, truth, and their influence on human life. We nurture and develop your skills of evaluation and critical thinking through debates and written work.
Fifty per cent of the course is on beliefs, teachings and practices of two religions (Christianity and Islam) and 50% on religion, philosophy and ethics in the modern world.
