Science

We aim to enthuse students in Science and prepare them for the challenges ahead of them.

At The Cotswold School, we follow our own bespoke Key Stage 3 curriculum, designed to maximise enjoyment of, and achievement in, Science.

Our topics include investigations, such as ‘CSI Bourton’, ‘Cafeteria Bacteria’ and ‘Rocket Science’, which capture students’ imaginations and give them the best possible platform from which to tackle the GCSE syllabus, which we begin at the start of Year 9.

Practical work forms an important element of the course and we find that children love using scientific equipment – with an emphasis on safe practice, of course, as soon as they start. Throughout all of our topics, we teach an understanding of the Scientific Method and ‘how to control variables’, along with ways to present information in a variety of forms.
