Students on board of Co-op solar panel energy project

Students from The Cotswold School have joined the board of a community energy scheme that uses solar panels installed at the Co-op in Bourton-on-the-Water.

As people across the UK are looking at ways to help tackle the climate crisis, a new initiative called PowerShare is being delivered through Your Co-op Energy and Octopus Energy partnership, Younity.

PowerShare is bringing together local sixth-formers, young adults and those with long-standing experience in developing and running community energy projects on its new boards.

Max Tomlinson and Luca Devereux – both in the Sixth Form at The Cotswold School – have become directors on Youth Empowered.

Max explains why they got involved. “By taking a more active role and making our voices heard, we can all play a part in making the world we are all living in, as well as the world our children will be living in, a more sustainable and nature-nurturing place to be.”

Fellow board member, Amelia Crews, said, “I am able to channel my climate anxieties into action and therefore gain a brighter view of my future.”
