Students from Tokyo visit The Cotswold School
Last week, we were delighted to welcome 41 students from Shukutoku Sugamo Senior High School, Tokyo, as part of their trip to the UK – due to Covid restrictions, it has been 3 years since their last visit! Whilst with us, Shukutoku Sugamo students had the opportunity to experience lessons with their Cotswold School ‘buddies’, who volunteered to look after them. Our visitors also gave presentations about Japanese culture to several Year 8 classes, discussing similarities and differences between Japan and England, and Year 9 classes were treated to workshops to learn about Japanese culture, including how to use chopsticks and origami.
Miss Verity Morgan, History Teacher at The Cotswold School, said, “It was excellent to see students from The Cotswold School engaging with our visiting Japanese students and learning about Japanese culture. Students from both schools learnt a lot and had great fun too! It has been a shame to miss out on this opportunity over the last few years and fantastic to see these sorts of visits up and running again!”
It was a delight to host such wonderfully polite students and we are extremely proud of how The Cotswold School students welcomed and embraced the experience.
