Summer classics

Tori and Hannah, both in Year 10, have been accepted for a week’s online study with a charity called Academus this summer.

The educational charity is supported by University College London and offers free tuition to school students who cannot access Classics subjects within their school’s curriculum. Tori said,

“I have always had a passion for the ancient world and saw this as a fantastic opportunity to further my studies. Academus encourages students to try new subjects and broaden their horizons, by providing online courses free of charge.”

Tori will study Ancient Greek Language, Ancient Greek Literature and Roman History. She previously studied Latin Language and Literature; took Latin GCSE while in Year 9 and achieved a Grade 9.

Hannah has been learning Latin by herself and says, “the Academus week is a fabulous place to reinforce my knowledge. I have chosen Latin Language, Greek Literature and Roman History.

Although this year’s summer school is now full, you can find out more about Academus here.
