Talented former student’s creative gift to school

“With much appreciation for seven fantastic years!”

Huw Dickinson studied A level Fine Art and A level Textiles Design with us last year and has now presented heads of departments Mr Hillier and Miss Franklin with a book about an inspiring artist, inscribing it:

‘With much appreciation for seven fantastic years of education, opportunities and friendships’.

He added a touching message for future students:

‘Hoping this artist will inspire others as much as he did me’.

Huw is now on an Art Foundation course at Oxford Brookes University. The book is about the work of artist David Tress.

Mr Hillier, Head of Art, said,

“This lovely gesture is typical of Huw, who in his time at The Cotswold School developed fantastic creative and supportive working relationships with his teachers and fellow students. His gift is a wonderful resource for present and future artists, providing the kind of inspiration that he so valued in his time with us. This gift speaks volumes about the value that Huw sees in his creative education. We wish him every success in his bright future and thank him again for his generosity.”

Miss Franklin, Head of Textiles, added that Huw is the last of three Dickinson children to study Textiles at The Cotswold School, following in his sisters’ footsteps.

She said, “This book certainly leaves a lasting impression from a creative family. It was a pleasure to teach Huw, Helena and Sophie.”
