The Cotswold School’s Farming and Rural Economy Careers Day a great success!
The Cotswold School’s Farming and Rural Economy Careers Day returned to the Avenue field last week. Activity on the field started early, with exhibitors setting up throughout the morning. From midday onwards, students from The Cotswold School – along with children from Bourton Primary School – visited exhibitors’ stalls and spoke with representatives and owners of a range of rural businesses, trying out practical activities to help them discover more about the local economy and the range of careers available. Interactive displays and activities included planting seeds, sorting through fossils and guessing the weight. There was also the opportunity to find out more about our animal visitors including lambs, ducks, rabbit and Shetland pony, and the chance to sit on a tractor and combine harvester!
The Cotswold School Gardening Club, run by Mrs Timms, provided the opportunity for students to find out more about growing vegetables and flowers, whilst roaming reporter Flora (Year 12) spoke to students and exhibitors about their experiences.
Visiting individuals and businesses contributed questions to a quiz for learners to complete as they toured the exhibition.
