Match Report

What a fantastic match for our U13 girls football team! Welcoming St Peters School, Solihull, for their Round of 16 match in the ESFA National Cup, The Cotswold School started brightly and dominated possession of the ball in the first half, with some fantastic play from Lotte, Mali and Gabi. The Cotswold team created a number of chances for centre forward, Abi, but the St Peters goalkeeper made some outstanding saves to keep them in the game. Late in the first half, Mali crossed the ball from a corner and St Peters accidently allowed the ball into their own net, meaning our team went into half-time with a deserved 1-0 lead.

St Peters started the second half strongly and some excellent build up play led to their equaliser seconds into the second half. Cotswold weathered more pressure and the defence of Molly, Lena, and Lauren stood strong with some fantastic tackles and clearances. Goalie, Angel, also made a number of saves in the second half to keep the score at 1-1. With neither team enabling a second goal, the game went to penalties. Unfortunately, St Peters won the penalty shootout. The whole team should be extremely proud of everything they have achieved this year, they have developed into an outstanding team of footballers and have achieved so much getting to this stage of a National Cup Competition. Well done!
