New robotics team competes in national challenge

Students in our Vex Robotics club have been busy designing, building and testing their robots during in-house competitions, run by the Design and Technology department.

Mr Kelly, Head of Design and Technology, said,

“This really is a wonderful club in which students need to apply all of their learning in Science, Mathematics and Design and Technology to complete a complex challenge.

“Everyone in the Design and Technology department has been so impressed with the dedication of the students and everyone in the club is incredibly excited about the 2022 competition where we can go from here.”

Vex Robotics is an international educational robotics competition that attracts over 30,000 teams worldwide.

What is ‘Tipping Point’?

Each year Vex Robotics releases a new game that students must engage with by designing and building a robot to complete the challenge. This year’s game is called ‘Tipping Point’.

In the UK, there are over 300 Vex Robotics teams. Each team competes in regional competitions and aims to qualify for the UK national championships, held in Telford in April.

The team that wins the national competition will go forward to represent the UK at the world Robotics competition in Texas in the United States.
