During the last week of term, Mrs Newby and Mrs van Dam took a group of Year 10 and 12 students on the German Exchange.

We were very excited to return to see our colleagues and friends in Miesbach, Bavaria, where we have a longstanding link with the Realschule, as this was our first visit since the pandemic. While our Sixth Former completed work experience in a local tourist office, the rest of us sampled a lot of delicious specialities, including, of course, the infamous, Spaghettieis. We spent the first Saturday in Munich at the German music festival, Tollwood Festival, and then on the Sunday students were taken on various excursions in the surrounding lakes and mountains by their host families. The rest of the week was spent visiting our partner school, crossing the border into Austria, travelling by boat, train, cable car and funicular and eating cake. We are looking forward to welcoming our German partners back in March, as part of this year’s exchange.
