‘Year 12 University, Careers and Apprenticeships (UAC) Days.’

Year 12’s opportunities include a two-day session held in school, to help all students research and prepare for their next steps, whether choosing university, further training, an apprenticeship or applying for a job.

Hot on the heels of our current Year 13 students who, now in the final stages of their A level and Level 3 exams, are looking forward to their futures beyond The Cotswold School, current Year 12 students have just begun their own journeys, with two days devoted to learning about, and researching, the post-18 opportunities available to them. The students gave a very warm Cotswold welcome to a wide range of presenters on a variety of topics, such as: how to choose universities and courses; personal finance; how to write a Personal Statement; interview skills; apprenticeships; academic research; applying for Arts courses; and studying abroad.  Included in these talks were former students: Tash Tustin, who talked inspirationally about her experience as an apprentice with Atkins; and Katherine Marsden, Izzy Howard, and Charlie Dodridge who enthusiastically described their experiences as well as the practicalities of undertaking a Gap Year abroad.  Current Year 13 student, Brodie, openly and confidently shared the ups and downs of his journey through the UCAS application process. In addition, supported by their tutors, the Year 12 students also had time to undertake research and begin to prepare the all-important Personal Statement. The two-day event was concluded with a lively and highly inspirational talk from Dale Hancock on how to manage stress.

Huge thanks go to all our presenters and our own staff members, especially those who gave time to support the students individually and offered valuable presentations themselves.  But, most of all, many thanks to our Year 12 students who remained focused and motivated during the entire event. We wish you good luck as you move forward, and know that we are here to support you.
