Global issues for mini presentations

Year 8 students developed their Mini EPQs and presented them at an evening session over Teams. The Mini EPQ is a brilliant way to prepare to research the Extended Project Qualification in Sixth Form.

Subjects ranged from skateboarding and baking to a sweet way to turn £1,000 into £2,000; the power of coding; movie soundtracks; and ways to improve your health.

Josh’s project asked, ‘Are zoos necessary for conservation?’ and Layla carried out a study of twins, focusing on her and her sister, Ruby. Leila researched ‘How a dog sees the world’ and Emilia considered issues around global warming.

Mrs Newby, Stretch and Challenge Coordinator, said

“Year 8s did a fabulous job presenting their projects. Many spoke very eloquently and they all interacted with each other so nicely in the chat, asking great questions and sharing lovely comments.”
