Bishop of Gloucester visits The Cotswold School
We were delighted to welcome Bishop Rachel, the Bishop of Gloucester, to The Cotswold School this week for an engaging morning with our students.
Bishop Rachel began her visit with a special assembly for Year 10 and Year 11 students, taking part in an expert panel discussion alongside Mr Morgan and two of our Sixth Form students. The panel explored the theme of justice, encouraging students to consider different perspectives and engage with some thought-provoking questions.
Following the assembly, Bishop Rachel spent group time with the Y11 PB students, sharing more about her role as Bishop in the church and also her role as Bishop to HM prisons and the work she does in and around the prison service. She shared her thoughts around ethical issues such as abortion and the death penalty, criminal justice and the systems we have in place in this country and she also shared on her experience of being a female leader in a what was at the time a very male dominated industry.
The year 11’s then asked some great questions, which her answers will hopefully help equip them with some food for thought as they go back into studying these topics deeper throughout the year.
