Uniform

Uniform and dress code requirements

The main aim of staff, parents and governors is to make our school uniform neat, smart, inexpensive and easily obtainable from our approved supplier(s) and also from high street and on-line retailers. Our uniform is designed to be distinctive, conveying our school’s identity. The uniform list below identifies items as:

Compulsory Uniform Item that must be bought from either Monkhouse or Wreal Sports due to being a branded item or an integral part of the school uniform.

Essential Uniform Item that must follow school uniform guidelines but can be bought at any retail outlet.

Optional Uniform Item that is no longer part of the school uniform, but still available to buy from Monkhouse.

We have kept compulsory items to a minimum to ensure the cost of the school uniform is as low as possible.

Financial assistance

Assistance is available for the purchase of school uniform for free school meal pupils transferring from primary school to The Cotswold School (Year 7). Parents and carers can apply for free school meals via the Gloucestershire County Council website. For more information, please contact Mr P Dean, Chief Financial Officer on either: 01451 812970 or email: pdean@thecotswoldschool.co.uk.

Second-hand uniform shop

We welcome donations of clean, good quality school uniform that your child may have outgrown. We maintain a good stock of second-hand uniform and sales are held regularly in the school and advertised via ParentMail. Items are available on a Pay-What-You-Can basis. If you are interested in purchasing second-hand items at any other time, please email Mrs Neale directly: cneale@thecotswoldschool.co.uk

Adherence to our uniform code is very important. The school is judged, in part, by how its pupils appear in and around school. Our first priority is a clean and tidy appearance and the uniform has been kept deliberately simple to give parents flexibility concerning quality and cost.

However, no list can cover every aspect of a young person’s dress. We see school uniform as a “common sense” issue and extremes of fashion, in dress, hairstyle or personal adornment, will not be acceptable. We are grateful to parents and carers for support on these issues.
