Thank you to Hacklings, Summit Medical and Paxton and Whitfield Cheese Company!

We took 23 pupils to visit these local businesses for a workplace engagement day.

The students, all from Year 9 and soon to decide which subjects to study at GCSE, learned more about Hacklings, Summit Medical and Paxton and Whitfield Cheese Company. The pupils were given an amazing insight into the work that each business does and the wide range of careers they can offer. The visit allowed pupils to develop their understanding of career routes, which can support their GCSE options choices.

At Summit Medical they enjoyed a fun activity, filling pancakes with jam and chocolate sauce using surgical equipment and found out more about the innovative medical items that the company produces.

Stefan from Hacklings talked to the visitors about the haulage industry; they viewed some vehicles and discussed the range of careers and salaries available.

James at award-winning Paxton and Whitfield Cheese Company, which has shops in London and Bath, explained the work they do and the world-famous customers who buy their products.
