Digital Detox Week

This week (20-27 January) is our ‘Digital Detox Week’.

Since the late 2000s, smartphones have become commonplace. Following a recent survey, 96% of our students confirmed that they owned their own smartphone, with over a quarter – on average – spending 3-4 hours a day on social media and WhatsApp.

Every morning this week, we will start the day with a documentary, a question for debate or a challenge – to keep the ‘digital detox’ conversation going.

To further support this initiative, we are asking parents and carers to encourage their child(ren) to engage in off-screen activities. Our aim is to reduce the amount of time we spend on our phones by encouraging phone-free bedrooms, silencing notifications, pausing social media after 7pm, taking part in physical exercise, and enjoying the fresh air!

Teaching and support staff will take part too, as well as some local primary schools. Please join us!
