Relocating our library to the heart of the school
The project to transform The Cotswold School’s library has received a boost from local benefactors.
John and Fen Aird, whose grandchildren link them to The Cotswold School, have generously donated £10,000 towards the creation of the new library space.
The Airds have offered a further £10,000 in match-funding and also promise to support the library’s future resources with an annual £1,000 contribution.
The PTA is allocating £10,000 of the funds which are raised by its many events and supporters throughout the year. Now we’re looking for student fundraising ideas and enterprising schemes to help complete the project; and local business and community donations.

Will Morgan, Headteacher, said,
“This support, which will benefit everyone in our school now and for years to come, is a wonderful boost, particularly after the two difficult years that all of us – and particularly young people – have experienced. Among the many substantial funds going towards the library, we are privileged to receive this kind and generous gift. In honour of our benefactors we are naming the new space ‘The Aird Library’.
“Our vision for the project includes relocating the library to the heart of the school. New features and furnishings will make it welcoming and comfortable; and we will even incorporate use of a peaceful outdoor area. It will be a destination for reading, research and learning and will support wellbeing across the school community.”
The challenge now is for our students and staff to generate sponsorship and entrepreneurial opportunities. Sponsorship ideas and donations are welcome!
Work on the library is scheduled to start in January and complete around Easter 2022.
Our library project complements a £5.8 million construction and refurbishment programme of works, which has delivered a newly opened two-storey 10-classroom English department, two new science laboratories and an additional gymnasium.
