Wind, brass and world music instruments create new opportunities
Local musician Felix Jay recently contacted The Cotswold School, as he wished to donate instruments to our Music Department.
Miss Buckley, Head of Music, met with Felix and is delighted to have received, so far, a tuba, a clarinet, a sampler, a drum pad and a special type of guitar.
She said, “He was so impressed to hear what we are doing with the orchestra and teaching world music that he has since bought us a new marimba (a large orchestral xylophone) and the pots called bonangs from a Gamelan (suite of traditional Indonesian percussive instruments).
“This is about £4,000 worth of instruments. These are hugely useful, especially as they are the sorts of instruments that we couldn’t justify buying for ourselves.”
