Senior Mathematical Challenge

Well done to all of our A-Level students of Mathematics for taking part in the Senior Mathematical Challenge. Congratulations to Blake and Anya for each achieving a score of 85, a Gold award, and qualification into the next round of the competition. The Cotswold School also achieved 12 Silver and 34 Bronze awards, meaning over 60% of our students achieved certification. The Maths Challenges are one way in which we develop students’ problem-solving skills in the Sixth Form.

Mr Dee’s (Head of KS5 Mathematics) favourite question asked for the largest prime factor of 3^8 – 1, which can be achieved with a succinct piece of GCSE Algebra.
