The Cotswold school has been named as one of the top three schools in the South West in the 31st edition of The Sunday Times Parent Power Guide.
Published annually, the guide identifies the highest-achieving schools in the UK, ranked by their 2023 examination results. The tables are based on the percentage of A level results at A*-B and GCSEs at 9-7.
At A level over a third all grades were either A* or A, and 86% were at A*to C, with 62% at A*-B. 37% of grades achieved at GCSE were at 9-7, with 82% of students achieving the benchmark of five or more 9-4 grades, including Mathematics and English.
We have always featured strongly over the years, achieving the accolade of Comprehensive School of the Year for 2015/16, and top performing comprehensive in the South West in 2022/23, so to feature as one of the very best schools in the South West again this year is an incredible achievement for all involved in our school.
As a school, our ethos is to provide exceptional teaching for every student where they can thrive, academically and socially, in an inspiring, caring and inclusive community. We know that these outcomes are a product of students feeling happy, supported and well taught in an enriching environment. This will enable us to create the brilliant futures our students deserve.
Mr Will Morgan, who has been Headteacher at The Cotswold School since 2011, said
“Featuring in the top three comprehensive schools in the South West recognises the hard work of our students, our inspiring and committed staff, and the ongoing support of our parents and carers.
We remain focused on the quality of our curriculum and our teaching for all. Our staff care deeply for their subjects, their school and the individual students under their care. I am immensely proud of the support, both academic and pastoral, that we offer to our students, as well as our extra-curricular activities, helping to create opportunities to enable our students to thrive.
I couldn’t be more proud of the students and the staff of The Cotswold School.”
