Well done to our Year 10 Rugby team

Year 10 Rugby vs Old Swinford Hospital Match Report

After an exceptional win in their game against St George’s, Harpenden back in November, The Cotswold School Year 10 Rugby team faced Old Swinford Hospital on Monday (23 January) in the regional final of the English School’s RFU Vase competition at Stourbridge RFC.

After an early score from Old Swinford Hospital, our players started to dominate the contact area with outstanding individual tackles and aggressive work at the breakdown, resulting in lots of turnovers and penalties in favour of our Year 10s. Two moments of individual brilliance led to tries from Will and Jake – both converted by Jesse – with a half-time score of 17-14 to Old Swinford Hospital.

In the second half, Old Swinford Hospital’s greater fitness levels started to have an impact and, although our team displayed tremendous effort, courage and passion, the game started to run away from us. Old Swinford Hospital were the eventual winners, 53-14, but despite the score line, each member of The Cotswold School team showed outstanding commitment and integrity, fighting until the very end. Well done, you should all be extremely proud of what you have achieved this season and we look forward to seeing what you can do in Year 11!
