Selection by Gloucester Rugby is a highlight for Under 15s players
Rugby at The Cotswold School is going from strength to strength.
For the first time, there are six Cotswold School Year 11 players in the Gloucester Under-15s Development Player Programme (DPP), an unprecedented number according to PE teacher and Head of Year 11, Mr Jones.
Scott and Olly’s selection for a Kingsholm match is also a first for the school: Scott scored a try in the 61st minute of the match against Bristol Bears U16 Academy, which Gloucester ultimately won.
Both boys are in the school’s First XV alongside sixth form players; the team achieved a great result against Kingham School (41-24) recently. They also play for Stow-on-the-Wold RFC and have done since they were 12 and 8-years-old respectively.
They said it was an honour to be selected and hope to play in more games for Gloucester. They are training twice-weekly at Gloucester’s training ground at Hartpury and their aim is to progress into the U16s Academy.
Mr Jones added, “We are really proud of Scott and Olly for the recognition they have earned. As well as the six boys from Year 11 in Gloucester’s DPP, The Cotswold School has players in years 8-10, who are also thriving in the development programme.”
